Delete your Forsheur account

How to delete your account

  1. Sign in below with the same Google, Apple or email account you use in the Forsheur app.
  2. Check that the account shown is the one you want to delete.
  3. Type DELETE and press Delete my account.

Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. You are signed out of the app on every phone.

Encrypted recordings: if you want to keep the ability to decrypt your private recordings offline, export your decryption key before deleting your account: on forsheur.com, sign in, open the account menu and choose Export decryption key. Once the account is deleted, the key can no longer be recovered, by you or by us.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Deleted

  • Your email address and the link between your Google, Apple or email sign-in and this account
  • Your password, if you set one
  • Your encryption salt and the encrypted copies of your private keys stored on our servers
  • All signed-in sessions, on every phone and browser
  • Sharing permissions you gave or received

Kept, never deleted

  • Your recordings (video and audio), public or encrypted
  • Their metadata: capture time, location, device and sensor data
  • Device certificates and public keys, which prove where the recordings come from
  • Encrypted key envelopes, so people you shared a recording with can still open it
  • Notarized timestamp proofs

Recordings made with Forsheur are timestamped evidence: once uploaded, nobody, including Forsheur, can withdraw or alter them. They are therefore kept indefinitely, to preserve the integrity of that evidence, and are no longer linked to your email address. Encrypted recordings stay encrypted: only someone holding a key that was granted access can read them.

Technical logs and usage data (logs sent by the app, the sign-in log, website visit counts) are not affected by deleting your account: they are deleted automatically 12 months after they were recorded.

Backups: your former email address remains in our encrypted backups for up to 12 months, after which it is gone.
